Getting in shape

You know what I did yesterday for the first time in over a year? I worked out! Okay, I have done a few (emphasis on few) laps around the block with the stroller. But, sadly, that’s it. How do I feel today? I can barely move. Tracy Anderson is an evil genius. Everything hurts.

But it feels good to get started. I am on a roll! And since I am nothing if not a planner, here’s my “Get In Shape” plan.

Gear

I’m not going to lie, when I feel like I look good I’m much more motivated to stick to my exercise resolution. Old Navy offered to let me try out their Active by Old Navy line, and it was perfect timing. I bought 3 of their GoDRY Tees – they are just $8! And some cute black pants that have a miracle ControlMax feature that made me look rather svelte (at least in my skinny mirror!). The whole line is on sale through January 16.

Tone

Have you tried Tracy Anderson’s DVDs? I originally bought them because of my major Gwyneth Paltrow crush. For the life of me I still can’t do her dance routines (I’ll stick to Zumba) but her post-pregnancy DVD is awesome for whipping stomach muscles back into shape.

Cleanse

Juicing was rather short lived in our house – cleaning that darn machine takes an hour! So I’ve gone the lazy route and signed up for Juice Nashville delivery. They are amazing – I feel a surge of healthy already! I might try their 3-day cleanse if I can work up the nerve.

Pamper

What I wouldn’t give for a spa getaway right about now. Until then, overpriced eye cream, miracle workout pants, and a new water bottle will have to do!

  1. Looks like you got some great stuff! I need to start working out too.

  2. ooo i think if i actually signed up for a juice delivery then i could actually stick with it. like real talk, if i can barely muster the effort to build a sandwich, i won’t be juicing. good luck with staying on course, yay!

  3. Good for you sis! I’m proud of you–will do my best to encourage you, and guilt some if needed since I’m pretty good at that too :)

  4. Okay we need to team up on this whole getting in shape thing. :) I need someone to keep me accountable! I’m jealous of your cute workout clothes–I think I’d be more motivated if I wasn’t working out in my old sweats!

I know, I was thinking of doing a monthly weigh in on the blog but decided that would be way too depressing if I failed. :/ But new clothes always make me feel better – it’s too bad shopping doesn’t burn more calories!

  5. I need to exercise more!

  6. Good for you! I started walking with my friend this week while carrying the toddler in a sling. Let me tell you, that is an incredible workout– especially with hills! But winter weather is heading back to New York next week and I’m going to be stuck to the house. I’ll have to give Tracy Anderson a try!

Also, I definitely need to get to Old Navy! I was hiking up my pants on our walk yesterday and realized it was because I had on a pair of Old Navy MATERNITY yoga pants. Um, my youngest will be two in March. I’d say it’s time to treat myself to some new stuff!

Wow, I bet carrying a toddler is an awesome workout! When I push the stroller I can tell it makes a big difference. You definitely need to treat yourself to some new pants, lol :)

  7. i’ve got to head to ON. I’m doing it this weekend, dangit.

  8. this comes on the perfect day as im going to a hip hop dance class tonight and need to wear cuter clothes than normal i feel

  9. I love Old Navy’s New Active wear line it is so yummy it looks like Lulu Lemon !! Congrats to you, doesn’t it feel amazing working out? I need to get myself to do it more regularly.

  10. Look at you!!! You can do this!! I’m really great at working out…. once…. then I’m done for about 6 weeks. Haha! That’s why one of my goals for the year is to exercise more and exercise consistently. To help me along with this, I’ve been working out while I work. Working from home, on a computer, I feel like I just sit ALL.THE.TIME. So, while waiting for files to save (it takes a bit longer when I’m saving to a remote server) I’ve been doing desk push-ups, wall sits and planking. I’ve discovered that I can do 10 push-ups and 20 seconds of planking waiting for one file to save. Then I just repeat that as much as I can. I did a lot of push-ups yesterday and now my arms are sore, but it feels good, because I know I did something!

Keep it up!!! We can do this!

    • gerbermom says:

You are so smart! I swear I don’t think I can do one push up. And planks? Oh geez. Tracy Anderson makes you do a ton of those and I hate them. We’ll keep each other on track!

  11. I make the same promise to myself at the start of every new year Stephanie but something inside me tells me this is the year (even though I haven’t done one bit of working out yet in 11 days LOL). My time will come. Let’s not rush these things. You go girl!
